Contact the VA as soon as you can. They will only pay you a monthly disability retro to the date of your application. I guarantee you if you have Type II Diabetes, the connection with Agent Orange exposure in Vietnam is PRESUMED. No other arguments. The only question is what level your disease has taken. Mine is pretty much under control, but I have developed coronary artery disease which diabetes causes to occur. The VA recognized that and increased my disability percentage from 20% to 30% because of the onset of diabetes related coronary artery disease. I needed a catherization and what they call a "stent" implant in my right coronary artery to keep the artery open. The VA also increased my disability payment from $199/month (20% disability) to $369/month (30% disability). Don't ask me how they calculate this stuff. Just apply for disability benefits with the VA now!
