I went from Webb AFB, TX on 12/1971 to Vinh Long. Then went to Can Tho. I spent a total of 5 months in Vietnam (less than 180 days). I left around May to NKP, Thailand. I've got the VSM & RVCM medals, but the VA laughed at me, symbolicallly speaking. They said these were given out like candy to anyone who flew over, or were on ship offshore. How does a Weather Observer do his job? Does he fly over every day and say things are "Rosie"? I was an Air Force FOOT soldier for crying out loud! Missouri lost my overseas assignments. I'm still waiting word from Randolph AFB to see if they have anything on me. They don't even show my Thailand tour, yet I was seen by medics. I now have Diabetes Type II, and can't prove a darn thing. Are they just hoping and waiting for us to die? Show of hands: how many out there are in my same shoes? I really thought those medals mant something, now they say they're "micky mouse." So not only were we spat at when we came back, but due to AF not keeping tabs on us, and the National Archives incompetence (or maybe deliberate) actions, we're left out to dry. Any ideas? or does anyone out there remember me? Hrosario@lvcm.com Thanks and god Bless.
